My Review
Thanks to Justreads for my review copy.
Mindy Obenhaus is a new author to me and am happy I got to read this book. I have always enjoyed Loved Inspired books and have read a few now with working canines now. In this book Molly is an emotional and physical support dog for Dirk who we learn lost his wife and daughter to a crash and wears a prostatic leg. Dirk is dealing with his grief and working as a contractor on Legacy Ranch.
Tessa knows heartache as she is now a widow with two boys, Grayson and Bryce. Grayson is 9 and angry with the world. They are headed to Legacy Ranch which Tessa is part owner of with her sisters and Aunt. We meet Tessa and Dirk when Grayson steals an item from Dirk. To pay it off he has to help Dirk with the cabin he is renovating. We see often Molly offering support and comfort to the one who is hurting and at this stage it’s Grayson.
I enjoyed how this story is written and plays out. The author doesn’t hide the issues with losing a partner and highlights how often the ones who help most are in the same situation. Neither is looking for a new relationship they are enjoying the fact they found someone who understands. We see how words spoken in grief or anger where they can be misheard can affect the person hearing. Especially when this is a small boy too young to fully understand what is going on.
Aunt Dee is a delight in this book, she is a strong woman who comes out with some funny lines. There is so much more I would love to talk about but it would give away spoilers. It is an easy read and flows well. I eagarly await more books in this series in particularly Tessa’s oldest sister’s story.
If you enjoy Contemporary Romance with a faith element, which includes service dogs this is a book I am sure you will enjoy.
