Book Description
When Ivy steps over the cattle grid, reality hits. Capricorn Station is vast, desolate and Central to Nowhere. But Ivy has come too far to back out now. She’s left her past behind her and is desperate to make this work.
Stockman Adam O’Rourke is equally determined she’s going home ASAP. This girl is not the jillaroo he was expecting to help on his station over the summer. She can’t even handle a horse.
It isn’t long before Ivy realises there’s more between her and Adam than the job. But Ivy has only one summer on Capricorn Station. One season that’s passing way too fast.
And when Adam’s past blows in unexpectedly, Ivy realises too late that falling for him is bringing back everything she is running from.
But is it too late?

I loved this book from beginning to end. I simply couldn’t put it down. I loved DJ’s easy, relaxed writing style, with sensitivity and knowing attached to the many issues that came up throughout the book. DJ covered such issues as dementia, cultural differences between city and country life, cultural differences between Native and Caucasian Australians, separation of families, hardship and love.
The writing had a beautiful flow to it, and my curiosity about Outback Australia with all its harsh, barren beauty being satiated. All of DJ’s characters were credible, especially the abrupt, brazen nature of Adam, and the shy, naivety of Ivy. I laughed and cried my way through this wonderful book. The humour was constant and consistent, but sad, difficult issues were dealt with compassionately. I highly recommend this book to lovers of Rural Romance, but anyone who enjoys a well told and heartfelt story will love it.
Thank you to D J Blackmore and Rhiza Press for my complimentary copy.
