Book Review:
Thanks to Netgalley for my review copy.
This my first Darlene L. Turner book and won’t be my last. This book is action packed with so much suspense. This book is set in a national park in the Yukon Canada where we meet Park Warden Dekker. They hear that the PCK Park Campfire Killer has just abducted his next victim. Dekker is camping with is estranged father and against Dekker’s better judgement they continue to their campsite. We meet Blaire at the campsite of the abducted victim. She is a profiler who works best seeing the crime scene.
This is when the killer strikes again, and Dekker and Blaire are brought together. Dekker’s father is the latest abductee, and the killer is taunting them. It feels like there is danger at every turn and so much suspense. I wondered if how much more the Dekker and Blaire could handle. Again, the wilderness and the rugged nature of the park and also the elements of thunderstorms added to the drama.
Both Dekker and Blaire have issues they are dealing with from the past which have them both not interested in dating and having major trust issues. I love how the author shows how this issue affects relationships and how its hard to change your thinking. The faith element is also well done not just a simple fix but done in a natural way that is realistic.
About the killer Ironically I had a thought at one stage but ruled it out and was then totally on the wrong track. He was easy to dislike even with not knowing who he was. This is the first in a new series starring the Hoyts siblings. I very much look forward to the next in the series.
I would say this book is more suspense than romance although its a very slow burn but on a whole there is too much danger for romance for most of the book. But if you love, Love Inspired Suspense this book won’t disappoint.
