Today I am reviewing Dreams of the Heart by Penny Zeller releasing on 7 March.
The Blurb
Sometimes the hardest battles take place in the heart.
Poverty and abuse at the hands of her drunkard father leaves Hannah Bane trapped and alone. Without hope, she prays for a miracle just on the off-chance God will hear her. Will the handsome new deputy, who seems to be watching her every move, be Hannah’s one chance to escape the only life she’s ever known?
For as long as he can remember, John Mark Eliason has wanted to be a deputy sheriff. When a job opens in the nearby town of Poplar Springs, he eagerly accepts, but finds his greatest mission won’t be tracking down criminals and bringing justice to the ruthless Wyoming town, but saving a beautiful young woman he barely knows.
Will an unexpected answer to a difficult situation show how love can endure—and even thrive—in an unconventional situation? Or will fear and uncertainty keep two hesitant hearts apart?
A handsome deputy sheriff.
A woman in search of freedom.
An unconventional situation.
In the sequel to Forgotten Memories, author Penny Zeller weaves a tender tale of faith, romance, and humor in a memorable story that reminds us God hears every prayer and has a plan for every life.
My Review
Another great book by Penny Zeller.
This book kept me wanting to read to see what next. There is so much in the book I would love to talk about but I don’t want to give anything in the book away. In the first chapters we meet Hannah who has a drunk abusive father. He comes to town to drink and Hannah is expected to wait and take him home. John Mark is now a deputy who has a caring heart for justice.
Poplar Springs isn’t the peaceful town John Mark grew up in. There are outlaws robbing the stage coach, more saloons than a town needs and corruption happening. John Mark wants to make a difference and feel called to help those in need.
Early one Hannah is met by a small boy around 6 who asks for her help. Ambrose Miller is being looked after by his grandfather and is poor due to circumstances but loved. This scene made me laugh out loud when I was reading. We see more of Ambrose as he has taken a liking to the Deputy John Mark and also Hannah.
Hannah has been praying God would save her from her Pa and provide a way to leave. John Mark can see that Hannah is in need of help but has no idea what is. I won’t tell how he helps because I don’t want to spoil the story.
You will be introduced Grumbles a fun pet pig and A contancous rooster (who seems to take a liking to some people). I think the series keeps getting better and eagerly await the next book in the series.
Thank you so much, Jenny, for your wonderful review of “Dreams of the Heart”!
