Book Review | Her Billionaire Benefactor by Elizabeth Maddrey

Today I am reviewing Her Billionaire Benefactor (Easter in Gilead Book 2) by Elizabeth Maddrey.

Book Description

Billionaires get a lot of requests for money, but when my great-grandmother asked me to set up a scholarship at her alma mater, I was happy to oblige. Anything to make my GG smile.

But I made the mistake of mentioning that the Bible college where she met her one true love was gearing up for their annual Easter play. GG’s response? Stay in Kansas and lend a helping hand.

Such a terrible idea. Not only is it challenging to run a billion-dollar business remotely, it also means spending more time with Wendy Hall—the beautiful young widow who makes me want to help with more than just the play. So I’ll do my part at the concessions stand, and I’ll see what I can do about the secrets bringing Wendy down.

Easter is a time for new beginnings. A second chance at love might be the last thing Wendy wants, but I’m here to show her it’s exactly what she needs.

My Review

This is book two of the Easter in Gilead series. This time by Elizabeth Maddrey. It is my first book by the author but won’t be my last. The first thing I had to get use to first person and as I normally read in third person. It did take a few chapters but then I forgot it was first person and it went well. I also haven’t read many billionaire books due to a couple I didn’t connect with but this one I really liked.

Preston wasn’t pretentious and didn’t flaunt his wealth. Wendy has a lot of baggage due tragedy and is still working through her trauma. Preston’s Great Grandmother met her husband at Gilead Bible College and wants to give a generous donation to the college. She asks Preston to  go and check out the college and to stay for the passion play. Wendy is the administrator in charge of donations and shows him around.

We also learn Wendy is still dealing with the death of her husband and daughters from a car accident. She is dealing with trauma and has a secret that is tearing her up. She is scared to share fearing people will judge her and think less of her.  Preston knows there is more to Wendy than she’s saying but he doesn’t push her.

The way the author deals with the situation is down well. As we get to know Wendy more we understand why she feels like she does and I am sure it will help others also. It was also great seeing other characters from book one pop up again. I am looking forward to read more about Preston’s brothers in upcoming books.

This series is a great series to get readers ready for Easter.

Have you read many books featuring Easter?

    1. Hi Dienece it is a cool feature When I first used it didn’t realise it gave the sample chapter.

  1. Hi Jenny, I loved reading this book. I’d recommend reading ‘The Billionaire’s Nanny’ first because it includes the back story from characters in this book. The Billionaire’s Nanny is also one of my favourite Elizabeth Maddrey books. Thanks for sharing your insightful review. 😊
