Declare His glory to the nations, His marvelous deeds among all peoples.
There is a verse in the book of psalms that I love; Psalm 96:3, ‘declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples.’
It’s a verse that gets me thinking. It’s a privilege to know that I get to share His glory with others. To be entrusted with that is a beautiful thing. And after all, it’s what we are here for, right; to declare His glory and praise His holy name. As I sat and pondered the fact that I get to be part of declaring His glory to others, I had this revelation: while it is important to declare his glory to others, it is equally important to declare His glory to myself.
In the same way that we declare his glory to others, we must also declare his glory to ourselves.
It is easy to forget God in the day to day. We go to church and we praise and worship, but unless we are really intentional about it, we can easily not think about, or talk to God, for the remainder of the week. Or until a crisis happens. I don’t know about you, but there have been times when I have completed forgotten God was there because I was too busy getting on with what needed to be done. The risk we all face is that we can get too caught up in the doing, that we forget why we are doing it and who we are doing it for in the first place.
Declare His glory.
When we stop and declare His glory, we are reminded of who it is all about: Jesus. Our hearts refocus and our eyes are lifted to the only who deserves the glory: God. And here’s the thing: when we take time to look around at all the marvelous works of His hand; [bctt tweet=”when we reflect on His saving grace in our lives, we can’t help but to declare His glory #devotions #declarehisglory” username=”icfwriters”]. We can’t help but to lift our hearts and hands in worship of the One who is worthy of all our praise.
Today, can I encourage us to stop and declare His glory. Take a few minutes out from what you are doing, and just declare His glory. Declare his glory and his marvelous works. Remind yourself of the incredible works of His hand in your life and lift your voice in praise and adoration. Let your soul rejoice and cry out in praise for all that He has done. And then go and share it with someone else, that they too would know of His glory
Thanks Leila, what a wonderful God we serve! And how wonderful it is to know and love him!
