DEVOTIONAL: He will do it again

He will do it again.

It’s so easy for us to forget what God has done. We often read the bible and wonder at how the people of Israel could so quickly forget what God rescued them from. We wonder at their grumbling in the desert, shaking our head at their attitude. But the truth is, we’re not that different. When life gets tough, we forget the battles that God has fought and won for us in the past. We instead focus on the challenge in front of us.

Look back and remember.

As I was listening to some worship music recently, Elevation Worship‘s song, ‘Do it Again‘ came on. And God in His gentleness used the lyrics of the song to gently remind me to look back.

I’ve seen You move, You move the mountains
And I believe I’ll see You do it again
You made a way, where there was no way
And I believe I’ll see You do it again
I’ll see You do it again.”

I think if we were to all stop and think about it, we would all be able to remember at least one battle that God has won for us. We would be able to recall the mountains that He moved for us. If we stopped and thought about it, we would remember the mountains that seemed immoveable being moved by our limitless God. [bctt tweet=”God is not hindered by our circumstances #doitagain #LaysHalawe #ACW” username=”acwriters”] He is not threatened by the size of our problem. I think we can get so overwhelmed by our situations that they start to seem impossible, even for God. But He created the heavens and the earth and galaxies that surround us. He is the One that made the sun stand still (Joshua 10:1-15). He is the One that conquered death (Romans 6:9). Surely He can move our mountains.

His promise still stands.

Your promise still stands
Great is Your faithfulness, faithfulness
I’m still in Your hands
This is my confidence
You’ve never failed

If God says He will do, he will do it! Looking back reminds us that He was faithful before, and he will be faithful again. When we look back, we can see that He was faithful over and over and over. Many times its not obvious in the moment, but hindsight is a wonderful gift that allows us to see the truth. And the truth is that He has never let us go. He’s always had us the in the palm of his hand. And He still has us in the palm of his hand.

Great is His faithfulness.

He is faithful. His promises still stand and they are always yes and amen. He has never failed us and He never will. We just need to remember that!! His word never comes back void. Whatever your season may look like, don’t forget what He has done and be confident that He will once again move your mountains!
