Book Review:
Thanks to JustRead Tours for my review copy.
What can I say but WOW what a book.
The story starts with a bang and it continues. We start with Sheriff Izzie Sinclair being called to a report of a body being found. No idea if it’s human or animal. Her best friend Lisa is missing and she’s praying it’s not her. Going on her own was a mistake as she is attacked. Starting a series of events.
Logan Russell is Lisa’s twin and as he arrives back to his home town he comes across Izzie in danger and arrives just in time. It is here he also learns Lisa is missing. They work out that barrel racers are being targeted. Logan is suffering from PSTD and has a support dog Shadow who is a character in himself.
This book had me guessing as more things seem to be happening to Izzie its clear someone will stop at nothing to make her stop searching for answers. Logan is determined to help. You could sense the danger all the time and feel it being ramped up. At the same time it wasn’t to the point of excess. I was happy with the outcome and look forward to the next books.
The book deals with different types of abuse from psychological to physical and how both can affect someone. Both Izzie and Logan are dealing with PSTD and learning how to handle it. Watching how the different events affect them and how they work through the issues was handled well. No quick fixes. Also the way we see how Shadow works as a support dog is good as it helps explains what he does to calm Logan.
If you enjoy Love Inspired Suspense this book won’t disappoint you.
