Fiction Friday Getting to know Nicki Edwards
Welcome Nicki Edwards to our blog today. Nicki has a new book out and we are going to learn a little about her and the book.
1. Can you tell us a little about yourself?
I’m a wife, a mum of 4 adult kids, 2 border collies and a spoiled Burmese. I am a nurse, a pastor’s wife and an author. I’m an introvert yet I love public speaking!
2. When you were a child did you have a favourite book or books?
As a child I loved the Secret Seven series, the Twins and St Claire’s and then when I was older I enjoyed the Trixie Belden series.
3. Do you have a favourite Genre to both read and to write?
Romance and women’s fiction.
4. Did you have any favourite authors growing up who have influenced you?
No favourite authors that I can remember.
5. When did you know you wanted to be an author?
I always loved writing and at school I remember wanting to write, but being an author was a pipe dream. It wasn’t until 2014 that I wrote a bucket list and “writing a book” was number one on my list.
6. How did you go about becoming an author?
I made a decision that I was going to write a book and I started writing!
7. If you were not a writer what would you like to be?
I’m already doing it – nursing.
8. Outside reading and writing what do you like to do?
Sleep, exercise, eat, hang out with my family, travel.
9. Do you have a place you love to visit or would love to visit?
Canada. Always Canada.
10. If you could have a meal with 3 living people who would you choose and why?
The Obamas because they changed the course of history in America and they seem so real. Hugh Jackman and Debra Furness because I love how much they love each other and Hugh would also provide great entertainment and Harry and Meaghan because I’d love to hear their side of the story.
Finally can you tell us about your latest release. Where can buy the book and where can we find you on the web?
My latest release is called Holding onto Hope. Paperbacks are available directly from me. Ebooks are available on all e-retailer platforms.
Stuck in a stressful job and trapped in a toxic relationship, paediatric oncology nurse Hope Rossi needs to run. When her cousin Courtney begs for her help, Hope is on the next bus to Macarthur Point – the quaint seaside fishing village that was home to her happiest childhood memories.
Veterinarian Mitchell Davis loves his life in Macarthur Point and loves caring for all creatures great and small at the animal hospital he proudly owns. After a troubled upbringing, he’s finally found peace, people who love him unconditionally, and a place to call home.
When Hope comes back to town after fifteen years away, Mitch has no idea whether she’ll still have feelings for him. Fearful of being hurt, Mitch has never admitted how he feels about Hope to anyone – not even her.
How can he hold onto Hope and convince her that staying in Macarthur Point doesn’t mean giving up her freedom? Or should he take a risk and give up the life he’s made for himself for a chance of love, even if that means leaving the one place he feels safe.
Great interview Nicki & Jenny! Nicki, welcome to ACW 🙂 Canada is on my travel wish list – the closest I’ve been is the Peace Arch in WA at the border. Thanks for visiting with us. 🙂
Thanks for commenting Narelle, I love Canada. I have mostly been to British Columbia which I love and did make it to The greater Toronto area but it’s not my favourite part. Would love to see more of Canada. I fell in love with Pemberton which is near Whistler.
I have seen photos of the dogs but not sure about the cat. But I love cats and Burmese are special. I have 2 spoilt cats too. They actually rule the home.
Glad to see you have another book out, Nicki. We have at least three things in common – Secret Seven, Trixie Belden and Canada. I’ve been lucky enough to go to Canada four times and my novel is set in 1880s Nova Scotia (coming out middle of the year). I would go back tomorrow if I could. Hope the new book does really well for you.
