Crime Writer by Dime Sheppard
Publisher: Self-Published (Release Date: 1 October 2021)
Blurb:
Evie Howland has problems.
Guns. Bombs. Murderers.
And that’s just on the page…
In real life she’s meant to be planning a wedding to adorable billionaire Daniel Bradley, whose picture-perfect family definitely check the fairytale-ending box. But Evie is a teensy bit distracted—she’s seriously snarled in the sixteenth book of her successful crime series, and possibly turning into a hermit.
In a world where the lines of reality are intriguingly blurred, and ‘character development’ for an author means physically spending time with them in the real world, Evie’s protagonists are becoming irritatingly tricky to wrangle: NYPD Detective Carolyn Harding is volatile after a messy divorce, and Detective Jay Ryan has that heated look in his blue eyes again. Evie is beginning to wonder if she’s ever going to finish Book Sixteen and get them back into fiction where they belong.
When it looks like dreamy Daniel might be having an affair and Evie makes the mistake of inviting the police detectives to investigate, a sticky unravelling of reality and Evie’s safety-first existence begins. An alarmingly familiar homicide surfaces in the city papers, and Evie starts to think that darker, more dangerous characters might have crossed the fiction-frontier too. In which case, she’s in a lot of real-life trouble.
Guns, bombs, and murderers are just the start. If she’s going to survive, Evie must face her own worst fears, and learn that real love can be the best way of writing her own story.
But can she change the ending?
The Ava Show by Cecily Anne Paterson
Publisher: Wombat Books (Date Released 15 September 2021)
Blurb
Ava’s been training hard for an awesome athletics season, and is looking forward to celebrating her 12th birthday. Life’s great—and Chloe the dog is having puppies! Even if Mum gets annoyed at Ava’s lack of organisation, Ava can always rely on her best friend Josie and her sister Maddie to pick up after her.
But when the pandemic hits, everything’s cancelled. There’s no school, no birthday, no athletics, no toilet paper and definitely no Josie to rely on. When a puppy goes missing, it’s Ava’s fault. Can she mend her irresponsible ways in time?

Love the sound of Ava!
It does sound good doesn’t it.
They both sound good. Congratulations to the authors. I enjoyed reading Maddie’s story in ‘How Not to Be Popular’. Sounds like an interesting scenario to include the pandemic into Ava’s story.
Thanks for stopping by Nola.
Congratulations to the authors with new releases! 😊
