I recently purchased a new office chair from my favourite stationery store. Mind you, I only went in for ink cartridges, but somehow in my excitement of seeing all those pens and notebooks, I became so delirious that I am now the proud owner of an archer chair.
I know, I couldn’t believe that they actually named office chairs either. I thought I would find a leash and its adoption papers in the box too. =)
I had to smile because, as always, God is totally in the details. I imagined myself shooting arrows from my archer chair. Words firing from my fingers like steel-tipped arrows. And then a scripture came to my mind. Psalm 144:1 says, “Praise the LORD, who is my rock. He trains my hands for war and gives my fingers skill for battle.”
If you’re a writer (and I know that you are) then I need to let you in on a little secret that your enemy doesn’t want you to know about. Ready? Believe it or not, you are a warrior. Yes, that’s right. And whether you sit in an archer chair or not when you write, your words are like arrows that fire truth into the hearts of all the lost and broken souls who need to know about God’s love for them.
Your hands are trained for war, my friend, and your fingers are like a skilled archer. Taking the arrows from your quiver and shooting powerful words at the enemy until his schemes are rendered useless.
Don’t ever think your words are not important. They are. The Holy Spirit will make sure that your writing pierces into the darkness, bringing light where it’s needed. Let God train your hands for war and teach your fingers the skills needed for the battles ahead as you write bold, strong, courageous words.
So suit up soldier, put your bum on a chair and start shooting those arrows!
