Welcome to Tuesday Book Chat.
This is where we encourage book lovers to answer our bookish question of the week.
Today’s question is:
What’s the longest book you’ve ever read?
We look forward to hearing your thoughts. Please join in the conversation by commenting on this post or on the blog post shared in our Australasian Christian Writers Facebook Group.
Let’s chat!
I have no idea. I know Julie Lessmans are long. A hope Undaunted is 512 pages so that maybe it. I may have read a longer one but I am not sure. I don’t tend to read books over 300 pages often normally I prefer under 250.
Your turn.
I look forward to reading your comments here or at the FB group.
Hi Jenny, Back in the 1990’s I read Barbara Taylor Bradford’s general market family saga series set in Yorkshire. I don’t remember if they’d meet the criteria for clean reads so please don’t take this as a recommendation. I do remember they took forever to read. I looked up ‘A Woman if Substance’ (the book that first came to mind) and it’s a whopping 849 pages! No wonder it was memorable for being long, lol. 🙂
Oh wow that was long.
Hi Jenny – I think the longest I have read was ‘Winter’ by Marissa Mayer. It was 827 pages. It was the fourth book in her Lunar Chronicles series. I loved the first three books, so I was committed by the 4th, but it was very long. I have to really love a book to read more than 500 pages.
I am not sure I would be able to even start a book that long.
I thought it would be Twilight of Courage by Bodie and Brock Thoene at 614 pages, but then I looked through my Goodread stats and discovered a Davis Bunn book, The Priceless Collection, with 992 pages. Though that may be cheating since it is 3 books in a single volume. Lori Wick’s ‘Pretense’ was 708 pages. But by far, the longest book I have read is my Bible!
True the Bible is the longest. I know I read books with 4 in the set that may have had way more pages. but thinking on the Christian books I think Julie Lessman’s are the longest. Some of the 4 in one novels maybe longer but they have smaller print.
