Tuesday Book Chat | 16 September 2025

Welcome to Tuesday Book Chat.

This is where we encourage book lovers to answer our bookish question of the week. As we are a faith-based group the questions refer mainly to Christian fiction or non-fiction.

Today’s question is:

Do you fan girl/boy over any authors?

We look forward to hearing your thoughts. Please join in the conversation by commenting on this post or on the blog post shared in our Australasian Christian Writers Facebook Group. Remember to comment today on Tuesday Book Chat to enter the giveaway.

Let’s chat!

I would have to say for me one author would be Robin Jones Gunn. When she has liked a review or responded to an email I have felt really good. Her books have inspired me in different ways. Sisterchicks do the Hula made me want to visit Hawaii. I said to mum I am going to go to Hawaii to which she said you’re not going anywhere. While mum tried to burst my bubble I said to myself I am going someday and I did.

Your turn.

I look forward to reading your comments here or at the FB group.

Comment on today’s post to enter the Tuesday Book Chat quarterly e-gift card giveaway sponsored by Narelle Atkins. Two winners per quarter, $10 US or $15 Aussie e-gift cards.

  1. Hi Jenny, To answer your question from a reader rather than an author perspective, in 2008 I loved meeting Debbie Macomber at my first US writing conference. I understand why readers love attending reader events where they can meet their longtime favourite authors in person. 😊

    1. That would be exciting. I know I was so excited to meet some authors in person in America. but I think cos the meeting was arranged and I was in the planning of it made it more normal but It was still exciting.

  2. I wouldn’t say that I do. If I really like an author’s books then I’ll buy as many of them as I can. I have only met one published author, but they were at the school where I work for an author visit and I wouldn’t say they were a favourite author of mine.

    1. I can understand that. I met Paula Vince at the local bookshop Christmas eve when I was volunteering. I didn’t know she was an author but when she said how exiting for her seeing her books in the shop she then pointed them out to me. I bought one that day after she left and read it I was so excited to think I had just met an author who just happened to drop in to the shop while I was there.

  3. Yes! That’s one of the many reasons I love going to CASQ. I get to hang out with my heroes! The quality of writing these people put out is AMAZING. I spend so much at the bookstall every year!
