Welcome to Tuesday Book Chat.
This is where we encourage book lovers to answer our bookish question of the week.
Today’s question is:
Who are your favourite historical fiction authors and why?
We look forward to hearing your thoughts. Please join in the conversation by commenting on this post or on the blog post shared in our Australasian Christian Writers Facebook Group.
Let’s chat!
My favourite historical fiction author is Gilbert Morris. I started reading his series on the Civil war and was taken with how he would describe what actually happened and weave the books around it. His Liberty Bell books are set in the Revolutionary war and again informative. The House of Winslow is also really good. It is here I learnt about how Roland Garros was named after a flying ace from France in WW1. He invented the machine gun that didn’t shoot the propellors of.
I also like Janette Oke because she got me back into writing. Another author is Penny Zeller who’s books are always good. I have several others I really enjoy also.
Your turn.
I look forward to reading your comments here or at the FB group.
Roseanna M White has been a favourite of mine recently, as well as Mike Hollow with his Blitz Detective series.
I haven’t been as much of a fan of historical fiction in recent years, particularly pre-1900 settings and World War II. I’ve been more interested in early 1900s and World War I or contemporary novels.
Hi Beth I got through stages where I love historical but then I need something else recently its been cosy mystery.
Hi Jenny, I can’t easily answer ‘favourite’ questions when it comes to books and authors because I have too many favourites. A good problem to have, lol.
If I think about books I’ve recommended on my blog, I’d be talking about Jennifer Mistmorgan (WW2 historical), Amanda Deed (19th Century historical), Stephanie Landsem (20th Century historical), Christine Dillon (Biblical era fiction), Penny Zeller (US western historical), Carolyn Miller (regency historical), Roseanna M. White (various historical eras) and I could list a few dozen more… 😊
I agree. (Except for Gilbert Morris with me and even then I did read all his books set in England). Its a bit like who is your favourite child/dog/cat
