Welcome to Tuesday Book Chat.
This is where we encourage book lovers to answer our bookish question of the week. As we are a faith-based group the questions refer mainly to Christian fiction or non-fiction.
Today’s question is:
Have your reading habits surprised you this year?
We look forward to hearing your thoughts. Please join in the conversation by commenting on this post or on the blog post shared in our Australasian Christian Writers Facebook Group. Remember to comment today on Tuesday Book Chat to enter the giveaway.
Let’s chat!
I would say yes as I have read way more romantic suspense this year than normal. This year I have read less Historical than some years. I have read 3 what I would class them as Contemporary and Historical fiction rather than women’s fiction.
Your turn.
I look forward to reading your comments here or at the FB group.

Yes. I haven’t read as many books this year.
I can’t seem to find many I like. I keep starting them, getting bored and taking them back to the library.
I haven’t tallied up my number of books actually read yet. It’ll be interesting to see how far behind last year I am.
I have times I just don’t want to read or cant seem to read.
Since losing my husband, I have found it more difficult to settling to reading. However, once I get into a book I really enjoy, I find it hard to stop until I get through it.
I can understand that Heather. When Mum passed away I struggled with reading partly because I wasn’t sleeping and was so tired. Also when the head pain started I couldn’t concentrate. I am glad when you do find a good book it does get you in.
Hi Jenny, I’ve read more paperbacks than last year and I’ve read more widely (range of genres) than in previous years. I hope to continue these trends in 2026! 😊
Sounds good Narelle. Its always nice to read new authors and different genres. I found this year I had so many new authors.
I read a whole lot less books this year. My counselor suggested my ‘over’ reading was me using that to deal with my anxiety instead of face why I had it.
So I faced the world more, worked on being more social. So I actually have read over 100 less books this year for a total of 175.
wow thats a big total. I hope the facing the world has helped.
Due to a health issue, I have not read as many books as I usually do… I am slowly getting back into it.
I can understand that Colleen. Health can really impact a lot of things. When my head pain was really bad I just couldn’t concentrate on reading.
