Tuesday Book Chat | 2 September 2025

Welcome to Tuesday Book Chat.

This is where we encourage book lovers to answer our bookish question of the week. As we are a faith-based group the questions refer mainly to Christian fiction or non-fiction.

Today’s question is:

Do you request Christian books at your library?

We look forward to hearing your thoughts. Please join in the conversation by commenting on this post or on the blog post shared in our Australasian Christian Writers Facebook Group. Remember to comment today on Tuesday Book Chat to enter the giveaway.

Let’s chat!

I haven’t mainly because I don’t read physical books I am not sure how they work with ebooks. It’s something I should do when I am there as I do go at least once a week. I have donated Christian books to the local library.

Your turn.

I look forward to reading your comments here or at the FB group.

Comment on today’s post to enter the Tuesday Book Chat quarterly e-gift card giveaway sponsored by Narelle Atkins. Two winners per quarter, $10 US or $15 Aussie e-gift cards.

  1. I don’t because I rarely go to the library and it’s usually easier to purchase books because I will re-read them at some stage (unless I know I won’t re-read, then I donate them, but not to the library). Our local library got rid of pretty much all the Christian fiction when they renovated a few years ago.

    1. I know some libraries are like that. here they were quite appreciative of donations but not sure now. I did donate a couple of YA review books which they were happy to accept recently. (The co-ordinator of both Library and town hall is a Christian which may help).

  2. Yes, I’ve ordered many Christian novels for my library and most of them have been accepted. I live in a town that has a fairly big Christian presence so I think they know there are people who will want to read them. But I think a lot of people are also looking for clean reads. So you never know until you ask.

    1. true. Here there is a lot of interlibrary loans from the whole of the state. I got a few books about dealing with pain early on that way. One I was number 22 in the state wanting it and they had about 3 or 4 books and with each being able to be borrowed for a month it took awhile. One was even longer and I bought it on ebook.

  4. Hi Jenny, I do, and it’s always exciting to be the first reader of a brand new library purchase. I request books from Aussie authors (and borrow Aussie books) because local authors can receive Public Lending Rights payments from the government for print book library borrows.

  5. I have never requested books for a library. I have seizures and am not allowed to drive so I don’t got to libraries anymore. I’ve never even thought about it.

    1. I know some authors ask readers to request books from their libraries. but like you haven’t done it. Sorry you can’t get to the library anymore.

  6. My question is where are all the Christian sprayed/stenciled edge books at? I am obsessed with this trend, but I can’t find any Christian books/authors that have caught on!

  7. I have requested specific books at my library but it is across most genres. It’s important to keep books of different varieties available. Keep up the good work!

    1. Thanks for stopping by. True and I do see people requesting different books from different catagories at my local library.

    1. Thanks for commenting Kelly and I am the same way. I go to the library but for other reasons (reading local paper)
