Tuesday Book Chat | 23 April 2024

Welcome to Tuesday Book Chat.

This is where we encourage book lovers to answer our bookish question of the week.

Today’s question is:

What’s a novel that made you think? What was the topic?

We look forward to hearing your thoughts. Please join in the conversation by commenting on this post or on the blog post shared in our Australasian Christian Writers Facebook Group.

Let’s chat!

There have been a lot but right now I can’t think of topics or names of titles. Maybe your comments will jog me.

Your turn.

I look forward to reading your comments here or at the FB group.

  1. Two spring immediately to mind. Not Christian, but as a Christian, very thought-provoking.

    1. The first fifteen lives of Harry August by Claire North.
Harry keeps dying and being re-born into the same life and time period. I read it ages ago and I keep thinking about it – wondering what I would do if it was me. How would I live my life? Would I change things for the better, even knowing it would all be re-set in the next life? Could I cope, knowing I’d keep coming back? Would it send me mad?

    2. The Measure by Nikki Erlick.
Everyone in the world receives a box containing a piece of string which indicates the approximate length of their remaining life. Great book that explored how different individuals/people groups/countries might react. Would I look into the box? How would it impact the way I live my life?

    1. Sounds interesting. the the box it would be interesting. It would be hard not to look but then that can have its own issues. Thanks for commenting

  2. Hi Jenny, Under the Magnolias by T. I. Lowe is a Christian fiction book that comes to mind. Its a coming of age story that addresses the complicated topic of mental illness with honesty and sensitivity.
