Welcome to Tuesday Book Chat.
This is where we encourage book lovers to answer our bookish question of the week. As we are a faith-based group the questions refer mainly to Christian fiction or non-fiction.
Today’s question is:
Have you ever written to an author?
We look forward to hearing your thoughts. Please join in the conversation by commenting on this post or on the blog post shared in our Australasian Christian Writers Facebook Group. Remember to comment today on Tuesday Book Chat to enter the giveaway.
Let’s chat!
Yes. I wrote to Gilbert Morris by snail mail and got a reply in fact we exchanged a few letters. It was so exciting the day a letter arrived as I never expected it would. I wrote via his publisher. Previously I had sent a letter to Lori Wick and it was returned address unknown. This was before I had the internet at home. I have since written to several authors via email quite often after I read a book that I really loved.
Your turn.
I look forward to reading your comments here or at the FB group.

I have responded to posts on social media and replied to some author emails, but I haven’t actually written to an author.
Replying is writing. Back when I was in the 80’s I had friends who wrote to tv shows and stars. I wrote to Fame and got a response, but the first actor was Robert Colby and I got a reply it was so exciting and I still have it. I then wrote to stars of Days of our lives and a few other Aussie ones. It was Gilbert Morris’s Appomattox series and then starting the House of Winslow series I have to write never expecting a reply. But it made me think if South Australia and Victoria had gone to war against each other I would be like many in America back them a lot of our relatives (In fact all of mum’s side of the family) came from Victoria and lived there and half of Dads side besides his immediate family. We are a border town with many coming to our church and school, to shop and play hockey with etc from over the border. It would have been so difficult one day being friends and playing short, worshipping together etc to suddenly not being able to have contact and being in direct line of fire. It was the way he explained it really hit me how hard it would be and I had to write.
I emailed Micheal Phillips once to ask if the third book in my favourite series that he wrote was going to come out. His lovely wife wrote back to say what an encouragement it was that I loved the series, but unfortunately the publisher had decided not to publish the last book. 🙁 Which was sad news, but it was lovely to hear from his wife.
Thats so nice she took the time to write back to you.
