Tuesday Book Chat | 27 May 2025

Welcome to Tuesday Book Chat.

This is where we encourage book lovers to answer our bookish question of the week. As we are a faith-based group the questions refer mainly to Christian fiction or non-fiction.

Today’s question is:

Are there any occupations you would like to see more in Christian Fiction?

We look forward to hearing your thoughts. Please join in the conversation by commenting on this post or on the blog post shared in our Australasian Christian Writers Facebook Group. Remember to comment today on Tuesday Book Chat to enter the giveaway.

Let’s chat!

I would love to see more occupations that are not traditional. Male nurses or child care workers, Admin workers etc. Female tradies, electricians, plumbers, carpenters, mechanics etc. I would love to see some disability workers (teachers, support workers). Zoologists, or those who work larger animals.

Your turn.

I look forward to reading your comments here or at the FB group.

Comment on today’s post to enter the Tuesday Book Chat quarterly e-gift card giveaway sponsored by Narelle Atkins. Two winners per quarter, $10 US or $15 Aussie e-gift cards.

  1. Hi Jenny, I like reading about unusual occupations but it’s not something that sways me to read, or not read, a book. A fun twist on a stereotype, like you’ve mentioned, is something I like reading. 😊

    1. I agree its not what makes me read a book but I do like to see different perspectives.

  2. I agree I like to see different jobs, like a school counselor, librarians, hair stylist or quirky jobs. If the story is well written a cool job makes it fun to read also.

    1. I just read Penny Zellers Recipe for Love which has a quirky hairdresser as a side character.
I like the list you said and love quirky jobs

  3. Any career that is interesting and a bit different is always a bonus. But I like it most when authors write authenticity and know/ understand the specific career properly. (I do think it shines through when authors write about what they know)

    1. Thanks for stopping by. I agree any career can be interesting. I agree the author needs to get the info right. We readers know when its not right.
