Tuesday Book Chat | 29 April 2025

Welcome to Tuesday Book Chat.

This is where we encourage book lovers to answer our bookish question of the week. As we are a faith-based group the questions refer mainly to Christian fiction or non-fiction.

Today’s question is:

How do you find new to you authors?

We look forward to hearing your thoughts. Please join in the conversation by commenting on this post or on the blog post shared in our Australasian Christian Writers Facebook Group. Remember to comment today on Tuesday Book Chat to enter the giveaway.

Let’s chat!

Different ways. I found a few in the past year or so due to podcasts. A few others have been from author recommendations. Last year I was reading a series by different authors. A few were on a good special due to book promo. I bought one or two in the series and then bought more introducing me to new authors.

Your turn.

I look forward to reading your comments here or at the FB group.

Comment on today’s post to enter the Tuesday Book Chat quarterly e-gift card giveaway sponsored by Narelle Atkins. Two winners per quarter, $10 US or $15 Aussie e-gift cards.

The winners can choose between an Amazon.com or Kobo USD $10 gift card, or an AUD $15 gift card from Amazon AustraliaiBooksKobo, or Koorong.com.au.

  1. Sometimes I find them just by scrolling through the sites I normally purchase books, such as Koorong or Word. Other times it’s from blogs. Or it can be in a novella collection when I know one author, but not the others.

    1. When I could get to bookshops it was from the cover and blurb. and I still buy some because I just like the look of the book. and I agree with novella collections.

  2. I am subscribed to several newsletters like Bookbub, Freebooksy, Goodreads, etc that send recommendations daily. I can also go the home page on my Kindle and there are always recommendations based on my past books read that I browse through when I’m looking for someone new.

    1. Will have to look up Freebooksy. I am on several other lists that send out newsletters. Thanks for responding.

  3. Hi Jenny, Recently I’ve discovered new-to-me authors by listening to podcasts and watching YouTube episodes. I’m interested in hearing about what readers are recommending and why. The Avid Readers Facebook group and blogs (including our blog) are another good information source, especially when books are recommended by people who talk about why they liked the book. Sometimes I’m enticed to try a new author at 99c or free price points. I usually read the sample first to see if I’ll get hooked into the story.

    1. I would say most of those ways I have found new authors. Thanks for commenting
