Welcome to Tuesday Book Chat.
This is where we encourage book lovers to answer our bookish question of the week. As we are a faith-based group the questions refer mainly to Christian fiction or non-fiction.
Today’s question is:
Do you read serialised books – does genre make a difference?
We look forward to hearing your thoughts. Please join in the conversation by commenting on this post or on the blog post shared in our Australasian Christian Writers Facebook Group. Remember to comment today on Tuesday Book Chat to enter the giveaway.
Let’s chat!
No. I have saved the chapters to read a book when its finished but normally forget after a few chapters and don’t read it. When I was getting the Barbour Cozy Mysteries every month or 6 weeks (I forget which) they had a newsletter with bonus story. I still have that story and it’s still unread. As a child it was different but as an adult I don’t like waiting for the next chapter.
Your turn.
I look forward to reading your comments here or at the FB group.

I read a Christmas one on a blog a few years ago by Hannah Currie, and I’ve been sort of following another this year by Rochelle Sharp, but I do often miss a few days. This reminds me that I’m woefully behind on Rochelle’s.
A chapter a day can make it easier if you don’t have a lot of time. But if I miss a few days then I feel pressure and wonder how long it will take to catch up.
Also blogs tend to have a faint font which hurts my eyes over extended reading.
But serial blog posts can be fun for a short story. In moderation 😊
I remember Lacy Williams has done a chapter a day for stories before. Like you if you miss a day it takes awhile to catch up and so I ended up not reading it. Cami Tang does them too but normally a month apart and by the time the next one is out I forget the first chapter so think I will do it at the end and never do.
I don’t think I’d cope with a month apart either. And I do prefer them to not last too long.
I don’t but it would probably make sense for me because I limit my online reading. However because I limit my reading, I save it for downloaded books. I try to mostly read paperbacks.
That makes sense. Part of my issue is I forget to go back to the site
If serialized is chapter by chapter I do not because I don’t have the patience and I wouldn’t remember to go back and read the story. I’d rather read the whole book at once.
That’s how I feel too. especially the forget to go back.
