Welcome to Tuesday Book Chat.
This is where we encourage book lovers to answer our bookish question of the week.
Today’s question is:
Do you like to read fairytale retellings?
We look forward to hearing your thoughts. Please join in the conversation by commenting on this post or on the blog post shared in our Australasian Christian Writers Facebook Group.
Let’s chat!
Yes sometimes I have read them not realising they are retellings. Also some books I read could be but are not marketed that way. I like when they have a twist on the original. Their are also a few I would love to see written such as the Ugly Duckling. The other one would be the Snow Queen. If you have never read it, it is nothing like Frozen. It would be tricky but it could be done and would be an interesting read.
Your turn.
I look forward to reading your comments here or at the FB group.
Hi Jenny, I enjoy them if they’re done well. I’m pretty sure I’ve read a Snow Queen retelling (it’s something we talked about a few years ago on StoryChats) but I’ve drawn a blank on the book and author. Maybe Jaycee Weaver, or a novella collection she was in? It might be in the fairytale retelling episode but it could be somewhere else?
I remember commenting it would make a good retelling. The one you are thinking of was a Frog Prince retelling. It was in the boxset Once upon a Summer.
Yes! Now I’m remembering it was probably a conversation in the YouTube episode comments that I’m thinking of. I hope you can find a good retelling of the Snow Queen. 🙂
