Tuesday Book Chat | 7 January 2024 and New Giveaway

Welcome to Tuesday Book Chat.

This is where we encourage book lovers to answer our bookish question of the week. As we are a faith-based group the questions refer mainly to Christian fiction or non-fiction.

Today’s question is:

Have you set a reading challenge for this year?

We look forward to hearing your thoughts. Please join in the conversation by commenting on this post or on the blog post shared in our Australasian Christian Writers Facebook Group. Just a note only comments on these posts will be entered in the giveaway.

Let’s chat!

At Goodreads I currently have set 25 books I hope to double that but have learnt from previous years that I do have times where I am unable to read or struggle. If you have some fun challenges let us know about them so we can check them out.

Your turn.

I look forward to reading your comments here or at the FB group.

  1. I’ve set a goal of 150 books this year on Goodreads. It’s a high target, but I have been over that for the past few years.

  2. Happy New Year everyone!
I set my goal for 175 books for 2025. I read 282 books in 2024, so I’m sure I’ll meet my goal.

    1. Hi Cindi nice to see you here thats an impressive goal but looks like more than realistic. Do you raise it when you reach the goal?

    1. Thanks for stopping by Stephanie I understand being realistic. I actually find if I go to high and find I am getting further and further behind my mind struggles and I then find reading really hard. I can go weeks without reading and have spurts of reading lots. 36 is a good amount.

  3. I haven’t set a total number goal, just a concept goal. One Regency a month. Plus, 3 other books minimum. Which I suppose makes 48. I normally hit that easily and prefer to read a lot more.

    1. I like your concept goal. I use to have a challenge where I was reading a book from every state of America. It was interesting cos some states had so many then I would have states like Utah, and one year it was also Mississippi that I was struggling to find a book set in. Of course the next year Mississippi was one of the easiest. I like different challenges. Although a few in groups where they set the book to read I struggled with so didn’t join them.

  4. I have set a goal to read 75 books this year. I only read 53 last year, but I am determined to reach my goal this year as I’m trying to read books I own! I have hundreds in my kindle and on my physical shelves I haven’t gotten to yet and am hoping to be able to get through a fair amount of them.

Thank you to Narelle for sponsoring the giveaway, that is very generous!

    1. Thats a good goal. thats a goal in itself to read books you already own. and it is great Narelle sponsoring the giveaway.

  5. Hi Jenny, I don’t usually set a reading goal because I don’t track everything I read in Goodreads. I like the flexibility of reading what appeals to me rather than making it a goal oriented exercise. That said, I’m typically reading 25-30 books per year according to Goodreads. 😊
