Tuesday Book Chat | 7 October 2025

Welcome to Tuesday Book Chat.

This is where we encourage book lovers to answer our bookish question of the week. As we are a faith-based group the questions refer mainly to Christian fiction or non-fiction.

Today’s question is:

Have you been to a book signing at a bookshop?

We look forward to hearing your thoughts. Please join in the conversation by commenting on this post or on the blog post shared in our Australasian Christian Writers Facebook Group. Remember to comment today on Tuesday Book Chat to enter the giveaway.

Let’s chat!

I know this is Christian Books and I have seen a couple that I didn’t participate in. The one I mentioned last week was also a book signing but I didn’t buy the book. I have however been to several for Cricket stars at a bookshop.

Your turn.

I look forward to reading your comments here or at the FB group.

Comment on today’s post to enter the Tuesday Book Chat quarterly e-gift card giveaway sponsored by Narelle Atkins. Two winners per quarter, $10 US or $15 Aussie e-gift cards.

  1. I have never gone to a book signing anywhere but there’s a lack of transportation and funds.

  2. No. I’ve never known of one to be on in my area – at least not for an author who’s book I would read.
I did get an author to sign their book at a church conference though.

    1. That works. I have the same thing here. As I mentioned I have had Cricket books signed. Steve Waugh was the first author and I got Glenn McGrath’s book because he was at the other end of the mall signing and no one was there at the time and the lady I was with (no idea who she was, met her at the net practice) was a fan so she chatted and I got the book signed and got a photos at the same time. Think they are the only ones I have been to the others I got signed at the cricket, net practice or the game.

  3. I have been to several over the years. My daughter’s good friend is quite a well-known author [not Christian books though] of rural romance and contemporary women’s fiction, so I have been along to support her. I also attended one for Michael Leunig, held in a small bookshop near Perth. It was a hot evening, and the shop didn’t seem to be air-conditioned. The crowd was packed in like sardines, and there was very little seating. I can’t remember if I still have the book!

    1. That would have not been good with no a/c and in a crowd. I know it can be hot in summer in Perth. (I still love the west even if I haven’t been for awhile). We have people come to our town due to the library and a few who are related to authors and they will do a book chat and sign books. While I don’t normally buy the books as I read ebooks It is always interesting how the book came about.
