Tuesday Book Chat | Do You Read Christian Memoir? What Christian Memoir Have You Enjoyed, And Why?

Welcome to the Australasian Christian Writers Tuesday Book Chat. This is where we encourage book lovers to answer our bookish question of the week.

Today’s question is:

Do you read Christian Memoir? What Christian memoir have you enjoyed, and why?

We look forward to hearing your thoughts. Please join in the conversation by commenting on this post or on the blog post shared in our Australasian Christian Writers Facebook Group.

Let’s chat!

For me I would have to say I haven’t read many. I remember reading about Corrie Ten Boom (if that’s a memoir) and enjoyed learning about her.  As for Memoirs not sure I have read many Christian ones.

Your turn.

  1. Is a memoir the same as an autobiography?
(I’m struggling to keep up with all the different terminology used to describe things in the world of books these days.)
If so, I’ve read a few, including one by a cousin!
Generally the ones I’ve read have been written by missionaries thinking back on their time in the mission field.

    1. To be honest I am not sure when I was at school an autobiography was by the person and an biography was about a person. I think Memoir is the same as an autobiography but I am sure we will be enlightened.
I have read lots of cricket ones. I am sure I have read others but my mind is a blank. (we are having reno’s being done here at short notice and I am only just holding it together)

  2. I used to read a lot more biographies and memoirs than I do now. I love stories of people overcoming difficult situations. My favourites would be ‘The Hiding Place’ and ‘Tramp for the Lord’ by Corrie Ten Boom; ‘God’s Smuggler’ by Brother Andrew; and all of Joni Erickson-Tada’s memoirs.

    1. I read The Hiding place, I also read Joni’s books. I know remember reading Little Girl Lost about Leisha Joseph it was very moving and what she went through was really bad. Also The story about Cassie Bernall a victim of the Columbine school shooting.
