Tuesday Book Chat | Do You Subscribe to Author Newsletters?

Welcome to Tuesday Book Chat. This is where we encourage book lovers to answer our bookish question of the week.

Today’s question is:

Do you subscribe to author newsletters?

We look forward to hearing your thoughts. Please join in the conversation by commenting on this post or on the blog post shared in our Australasian Christian Writers Facebook Group.

Let’s chat!

Yes but I am selective. I use to subscribe to so many and stayed cos I didn’t want to upset the author. Now I am unsubbing from newsletters where I don’t read the genre anymore or the author has changed genres. Or have gone general market and no longer write Christian Fiction. Also to some who sent them to often. I have several where I interact with the author via the newsletter. Those who ask questions and then reply or ask a question on their blog.

Your turn.

I look forward to reading your comments here or at the FB group. Remember all comments go into the monthly drawer for a gift voucher.

  1. I subscribe often to support a promotion, but honestly, I only read the newsletters of authors I know and regularly support. Others I don’t know, I often unsubscribe from. I give them a few months trial, but there are too many to keep up with.

    1. Thanks for commenting Ironically its sometimes the ones that are full of promotions I unsub from. I have given up on looking at any of the sweet clean ones as I prefer CF.

  2. Yes, I do subscribe to some, but mainly authors I know personally or with whom I interact regularly. Sometimes it is not possible to keep up with all those I would like to follow.

    1. I can understand that. I use to be on so many lists but it was overwhelming and many I don’t read the genre or they changed to a genre I am not reading or to general market which I don’t read. (and some were just to often 2 authors before a book came out started sending weekly then daily then up to 2 – 3 times a day for a few days) I unsubbed. One was a favourite author too.

  3. I don’t subscribe to any. Might be something I need to start. I’ve just finished reading three fabulous books and prefer to sometimes keep the mystique of the author where it hides. Open, though to change. Always

    1. Thanks for commenting. I find many many I open and then delete but I have been unsubbing recently. I use to feel bad thinking the author would be upset but then I also know mailing lists charge for people on mailing lists.
