Tuesday Book Chat | Have You Ever Visited A “Real” Setting For A Book?

Welcome to the Australasian Christian Writers Tuesday Book Chat. This is where we encourage book lovers to answer our bookish question of the week.

Today’s question is:

Have you ever visited a “real” setting for a book?

We look forward to hearing your thoughts. Please join in the conversation by commenting on this post or on the blog post shared in our Australasian Christian Writers Facebook Group.

Let’s chat!

I read Sisterchicks do the Hula by Robin Jones Gunn and knew I had to go to Hawaii. I went to some of the places she mentioned. Then after a second visit I read her book Under the Maui Moon and recognised places I had visited. Another place I visited in America was the Lincoln Monument which featured in a book also. On this trip I saw a few other historical places mentioned or featured in Historical books.

Your turn.

We look forward to hearing your thoughts. Please join in the conversation in a comment on this post or in a comment on the blog post shared in our Australasian Christian Writers Facebook Group

And don’t forget: if you’d like to participate in our weekly Book Chat by posting the question and your answer on your blog, drop us an email via our Contact page and we’ll send you the list of questions for 2020.

  1. I enjoyed Amish books by several authors, Beverley Lewis, Wanda Brunstetter and especially the true story “Forgiven” by Terri Roberts. When we visited the USA with our family we spent a day in an Amish village and enjoyed seeing it, experiencing their cooking and riding in one of their buggies.

    1. Thanks for commenting Heather. I enjoyed seeing a little of Amish country in Pennsylvania when I did a bus tour. We had lunch at Bird in the Hand and saw several buggies and the clothes lines (Which is just like the lines we use to have on the farm)

  3. I read a biography a couple of years ago about someone my grandfather knew. There is a photo of the person outside a house in a small town where I have been. Not only that, my uncle lived in that house for a while and I had my photo taken as a kid in almost the same spot!!
I don’t think I’ve ever been to somewhere in a fictional book that I’ve read though.
I do dream of going to Prince Edward Island, thanks to the Anne of Green Gables series and Hawaii – also because of the Sisterchick’s book.

    1. Wow that sounds exciting. I read a book by Meredith Resce set in Corio. I want to go and see Corio house. I would like to go to PE Island also and not just for Anne of Green Gables also for a book by Susan Page Davis.
