  1. Back in the early 2000s I went through a phase of reading many Christian novels by B.J. Hoff, who I believe set all of her historical fiction in Ireland. The series I read were the Emerald Ballad and Songs of Erin. They were great, and really appealed to my sense of ancestry, since I have a strong dose of Irish in my own veins, to be sure!

    1. Hi Paula. I was thinking of this author (couldn’t remember the books) but I do have the set but haven’t read them. I do remember a couple books where the potato Famine is mentioned. My great grandfather was born in Scotland but mum could never understand why they called him Patrick and then Pop was William Patrick. Thanks to my cousin doing family search we found out that while he was born in Scotland his parents were Irish and fled to Scotland for a few years then emigrated to Australia

  2. ‘Castle on the Rise’ by Kristy Cambron – book 2 in her Lost Castles series. One part of it starts in France, but then shifts to Ireland for the rest of the book. This one has multiple time periods, all revolving around one castle, and the stories are intertwined.
I’m sure I’ve read some others over the years, but this is the one that sprang to mind (probably because I only read it last year). As I’m typing another title came to mind – ‘Brides O’ the Emerald Isle’. This is a compilation of 4 novellas by Pamela Griffin, Vickie McDonough, Tamela Hancock Murray and Linda Windsor. (Thankfully I keep records of my books on Goodreads.) I’m sure there is a Christmas book. Just checked Goodreads and yes! ‘Yuletide in Ireland and Wales’ by Ginny Aiken and Tamela Hancock Murray – only one of the two stories is set in Ireland though.
Going through my list of Christmas books, I found another one – ‘An Irish Christmas’ by Melody Carlson.

    1. Hi Beth I think I read the Brides O’ the Emerald Isle I know I have read a few novellas set in Ireland by Barbour books but couldn’t remember the names.
Yes I was thinking of that Christmas novella series too. I think there were a couple others one set in Scotland and one in England.

  3. Hi Jenny, Great question. One book that comes to mind is ‘Once Upon an Irish Summer’ by Lisa T. Bergren that’s currently being promoted via a book blogger tour. Elizabeth Maddrey has written an Irish romance ‘Kinsale Kisses’. Janet W. Ferguson has an Irish setting for her romance book ‘Star Rising’. I know I’ve read more that I’ll remember later, lol. 🙂

    1. Sounds interesting. I remember reading a few where they went to America as indentured servants. And have read books about American Irish.
