Welcome to Tuesday Book Chat. This is where we encourage book lovers to answer our bookish question of the week.
Today’s question is:
What is one thing you wish authors knew about their readers?
We look forward to hearing your thoughts. Please join in the conversation by commenting on this post or on the blog post shared in our Australasian Christian Writers Facebook Group.
Let’s chat!
One thing would be that it is ok is a reader doesn’t like every genre you write. I personally don’t read a few genres as I don’t enjoy them so give them a miss. If and author I read writes in several genres, I will probably give those books a miss. I have favourite authors who write wide. Historical, contemporary, cozy mystery, suspense etc. While I will love some of the genres there maybe some I don’t like. Most know I am not a fan of heavy suspense, horror and Regency or English history with the aristocrats. This doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy and love other books by the author.
My favourite author Gibert Morris wrote wide and I loved most of his books besides the English ones. But he is still my favourite author. We are all different and its ok for readers to have preferences.
Your turn.
I look forward to reading your comments here or at the FB group.
I hate it when my favourite author decides to change how they write. Either starts included more steamy stuff (which makes me stop buying their books) or changes genres. Sometimes, I can get on board with a new genre, but it is still a huge disappointment when they change what I loved.
I can understand that. I don’t like when they change to more general market without mentioning it. with the change of genre I want to be advised this is happening. I don’t read all genres so won’t necessary follow if its a genre I don’t read. I also like when an author will use a pen name for a totally different genre. like going from Historical to high suspense.
