Let’s chat!

I have quite a few. One set is the When Calls the Heart series by Jeanette Oke. The reason is the first book is what got me back into reading. An elderly member from the church gave me book one for Christmas. I read it straight away and finished it and wanted more. She gave me the next book early for my birthday and I bought the other two in the series. At that stage I hadn’t read much for around 7 years. Thanks to her I found my joy for reading again. This series is special to me.

Your turn.

  1. I also have several I will not part with, but when I was 10 an ‘auntie’ gave me “Little Women” by Louisa M. Alcott. It was the first big chapter book that I read. I later got “Good Wives, “Jo’s Boys” and “Little Men” and won’t part with any of them. I also found a very old copy of “Jo’s Boys” which I have added to the collection.

    1. Welcome Heather. I still have Betsy a book I got as a child along with some of Laura Ingles Wilders books. I have actually put some books I don’t want to give away but haven’t got room for here in the church library. As I am in charge I can choose which ones to cull or keep.

  2. I have a special edition hardback copy of Anne of Green Gables that was produced for the 100th anniversary in 2008. It has the original cover and illustrations. I bought it at the Anne of Green Gables museum on PEI when we there in 2012. It’s one of my favourite books anyway, but having the special edition made it all the more memorable. I can’t imagine parting with it.

  3. ‘Clara Morison’ by Catherine Helen Spence will forever grace my bookshelf. I studied it in VCE 20+ years ago, and love the historical Australian lifestyle. It was the first Literature Studies book I loved. I used to read it every year or two, but haven’t read it for about 5 years. About time to read it again. 😍
