Welcome to Tuesday Book Chat. This is where we encourage book lovers to answer our bookish question of the week.
Today’s question is:
What’s your view on conversion scenes in Christian Fiction?
We look forward to hearing your thoughts. Please join in the conversation by commenting on this post or on the blog post shared in our Australasian Christian Writers Facebook Group.
Let’s chat!
If it done well and needed in the book then I like it. But on the other hand if its done just to make the character a Christian and done really quick not so much. It all depends on the book
Your turn.
I look forward to reading your comments here or at the FB group. Remember all comments go into the monthly drawer for a gift voucher.
Very much depends on how the author wrote it. Integral to the story and well written, I’ll love it. Preach at me or it comes off stiff/too short, I won’t. However, on the flip side, whether it’s a conversion or rededication to God, I don’t like it when the author skips over it either. If the person needed it, let me experience it with them, just work hard at making it a shareable experience (and from experience I know it can take lots and lots of work!).
I totally agree. I get frustrated when there is a person who goes from non Christian to Christian. Like they go to church for the first time and after they have suddenly become a Christian with no real mention of what lead to the decision but it had to happen so they could marry.
