Welcome to the Australasian Christian Writers Tuesday Book Chat, where we encourage book lovers to answer our bookish question of the week.
Today’s question is:
Who is your favourite Christian romance author?
We look forward to hearing your thoughts. Please join in the conversation in a comment on this post or in a comment on the blog post shared in our Australasian Christian Writers Facebook Group.
Let’s chat!
When I first read this question, I thought hmm… last week I’m having difficulty naming a favourite Christian thriller author because I haven’t read many thrillers in recent years. The reason I haven’t read many thrillers is that I mostly read Christian romance. And, there are too many Christian romance authors I enjoy reading to firstly name a favourite, and secondly create a list of favourites that’s complete and doesn’t leave someone out.
I tend to avoid favourite author discussions precisely because I’m an author. Authors are typically supportive of their friends, and if you follow these discussions in writing communities you start seeing the connections via advanced readers, influencers and street teams etc. Which makes me wonder if this question can be answered without any bias? And, does it matter if the answers are biased? Every author needs as much support as possible to get visibility in a crowded market.
What do you think? Do you have a favourite Christian romance author?

Tough questions but I would say I have several including Mary Connealy because I love the humour in the stories. Cheryl Wyatt because the first book I read had cricket in it and I was so surprised and American author knew about cricket. I have so many others I love to read also to hard to mention them all. Favourites have also changed over time.
My all time favourite author is still Gilbert Morris but not sure you would call him a romance author although there is a romance in most books.
Hi Jenny, I also find that favourite authors will change over time. Many books have a romance sub-plot, which I think applies to some of Gilbert Morris’ books. Thanks for commenting. 😊
Janice Thompson because of the humour in her stories; Kaye Dacus – just her contemporary ones; but top on my list is Irene Hannon.
It’s wonderful that she has been able to edit and reprint some of her older books that I thought I would never be able to get my hands on because they were out of print from their original publication.
Hi Beth, A great list! Irene Hannon was one of my fave LI authors, too. I’m glad her older titles are back in print. Thanks for commenting. 😊
Hi Narelle – I can solve both weeks’ dilemmas by naming by favourite Christian romantic suspense authors 🙂 Terri Blackstock is consistently good, but I also like Colleen Coble and the earlier Dee Henderson novels such as the O’Malley series. More recently, I’ve enjoyed Dani Pettrey’s Alaskan Courage series. So basically, I like my romances to evolve while the hero and heroine are running from crazed killers or rescuing each other from kidnappers. Nothing like keeping romance on the edge. 🙂
Hi Nola, yes, those heart-stopping romantic suspense books can be page turners. I have the complete original O’Malley series somewhere in my book collection. Thanks for commenting. 😊
