Book Review | Another Christmas Story by Susan Page Davis

Today I am reviewing Another Christmas Story by Susan Page Davis

Book Description

Beryl’s father is badly injured, and the wagon train leaves her and her little brother behind and at the trading post. They are at the mercy of the trading post manager, his wife, and their adult son, James. Winter is cruel and fraught with danger, especially when new supplies are needed and the trader must leave for several months. Grieving after her father’s death, Beryl sees that James loves her young brother. Soon she comes to care for James too. Young Sam loves Dickens’s A Christmas Carol, but he begins to imagine another Christmas story. Come spring, Beryl will have to decide whether she and Sam will continue on to Oregon or go back East.

This novella was first published in the Westward Christmas Brides collection, from Barbour Books.

My Review

Yet another great story by Susan Page Davis.

This is a sweet novella. I have been struggling with reading due to a lot of stress and exhaustion. I started this book and finished it in the same day. It read so easily. and before I knew it I had finished.

The story is a different Christmas story to what I would normally expect and love how it played out. The book starts with Beryl. her father and brother traveling on a wagon train travelling west when an accident happens. The forces their wagon to stay at the closest trading post for the winter. James is the son and he and his mother stay there over winter while their father gets new supplies for the following wagon season.

A charming story. I would love to know more of this story. A fun easy read for the Christmas Season

Have you started reading Christmas stories yet?

  1. I haven’t started reading Christmas stories yet. I save them for December. I do have a few waiting in my TBR pile though.

    1. I have 3 books parked needing to read but all are longer and right now really struggling to read much. I needed quick and easy and this one read so easy. (not that the other 3 books are not good but 2 are over 300 pages and one over 200.) due to stress (blame Henry for running away a few times still not home but hopefully this weekend hes in the old neighbourhood) I got so exhausted and then sick. Still tired so find reading much hard and right now don’t want to read and knowing I have 3 I have to read is making it worse. But this book was so easy to read and different.
