Book Review | Deadly Schemes by Penny Zeller

Today I am reviewing Deadly Schemes by Penny Zeller a Christian Fiction Romantic Suspense.

Book Description:

What happens when Kennedy is caught in the crosshairs of a madman’s schemes?

Kennedy Olohan loves her new job at the local senior center, where she not only plans activities but also does her best to advocate and protect the participants she sees each week. When someone begins targeting her for her concern over murmurings of shady real estate dealings aimed at seniors, Kennedy finds herself the victim of someone who doesn’t want their deceit revealed.

Detective Trace Ridgely is finally healing from injuries sustained in a snowmobile accident while volunteering with the local mountain rescue team. He never anticipated that one of the first cases upon his return is a suspicious death at the local park…and that the case might be connected to two seemingly random occurrences. As he delves deeper into each case, he begins to suspect that Kennedy is the common denominator.

Danger mounts against Kennedy as more deception is uncovered. Can Trace determine who is behind the schemes and protect Kennedy before it’s too late?

An elaborate plan.
A get-rich scheme.
A deadly outcome.

**Please note that Deadly Schemes is a faith-filled Christian romantic suspense novel.**

Book Review:

Another great suspense from Penny Zeller. Had me from the beginning. This time Kennedy Olohan is the target. She is working at the local Senior Center as an activity’s coordinator and loves advocating for her seniors. She unknowingly is getting in the way of the villain’s plans to target older residences and sell their property under them.

At the start she hears a woman scream and comes across a dead body. It is here where we meet the hero Detective Trace Ridgely. This is the start of them crossing paths. Her best friend Harper and Trace’s best friend Kade set them up on a date which in itself is interesting. Kennedy has no idea what she has done and why she is the target and Trace is trying to work the case.

We also see the point of view of the villain, and I have to say it is interesting. While at times it’s uncomfortable seeing his thoughts it does give insight into why Kennedy is blamed. In his mind she is stopping him from making money. His warnings in his mind should be enough for her to back off and he can’t see why she doesn’t understand. Whereas Kennedy has no idea what she is doing that makes her a target.

I did like how the book is set up with the three points of view. It had me questioning who was in charge and why. Seeing how they were all thinking adds to the drama. I hope this book will help people be more aware of scams and help warn and alert other members of the public to what can happen.

If you enjoy Romantic Suspense and Penny Zellers books this book will not disappoint.
