Today I am reviewing True Blue Christmas by Susan Page Davis
Blurb
New neighbors, cryptic Christmas cards, and jury duty. What next? Campbell McBride is juggling her new role as a private investigator with her slightly wacky personal life. Can she and her dad figure out who stashed a valuable painting in their client’s attic? And is the murder of an egocentric landlord somehow connected?
My review
This is the fifth book in the series and each book gets better. I look forward to each release and read as soon as possible. It is one of the few I will automatically buy.
The story is set around Christmas, starting mid December. This story has a few things happening. We start with Campbell going to jury duty and her wondering if the suspect is guilty. To then being hired to investigate the crime. At the same time Keith the police detective is wondering about the same crime.
We also have new neighbours moving in next door. Some cryptic cards being sent to her father. I also think one of the silent achievers of the book is Rita the house keeper who now comes twice a week. The goodies she bakes for them sound so yummy and I think we could all use a Rita. She may not be featured but what she does is.
The case is interesting finding how a stolen painting ended up in an attic. Who put it there, who stole it and why. I had ideas of who was involved and changed my mind so many time. This is a reason I love the twists and turns and how the leads are followed. I don’t want to say to much cos you need to read it for yourself.
This is a great series and I look forward to reading more. I am still not reading a lot due to being so tired but this book flows so well. This really helps and while its a Mystery I didn’t get bogged down. It does help to read the other books in the series but if you haven’t it won’t take long to work out the relationships between characters.
