You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. – Isaiah 26:3

Finding perfect peace is not an easy thing to come across. Often, most of us have seasons where we don’t feel peace at all, let alone have perfect peace. But God’s Words tells us that perfect peace isn’t as elusive as we may think if we rely on Jesus for it.

You keep him in perfect peace.

 

 

Perfect peace only comes from and through Jesus. It is Him that keeps us in perfect peace, not us. We can try achieving peace in different ways, and sometimes we can find that peace for periods of time, but perfect peace, that peace that surpasses all understanding, cannot be achieved by any earthly activity and program; that perfect peace that stands firm in the storm is only found through the Prince of Peace himself, Jesus.

So how do we get this perfect peace when our foundations are shaking? By keeping our mind and our thoughts on Jesus. If we focus on our storm more than Jesus, we make the storm bigger than Jesus; we amplify the problem instead of amplifying God’s power. Yet, God is bigger than any problem or obstacle, so keeping our mind on Him ensures we keep our perspective right and rest in Him.

You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.

Because he trusts in you. This is the key to keeping our perfect peace; trusting in Jesus. Life can be heartbreaking. Keeping our peace when the very foundation has crumbled from beneath our feet is easier said than done, but when we trust in Him, we trust in His ability. We trust in His sovereignty and love for us and because we trust Him, we can rest in His peace. We can confidently surrender our storm and fears and doubts and look to Jesus to set our feet on solid ground.
