Fiction Friday | Crazy for Christmas by Penny Zeller

For Friday fiction I am reviewing Crazy for Christmas by Penny Zeller

Book Description:

She’s a walking Christmas catastrophe. He’s a by-the-rules cop. Can they find true love this holiday season?

Juniper Swenson loves Christmas and can’t wait to experience her favorite holiday in her new town of Cloverdale Falls. It’s her love for Christmas that lands Juniper in trouble with the law in the early weeks of November for having an oversized Christmas tree tied to the top of her undersized car. It’s clear the officer who pulls her over has no Christmas spirit and does not share her enthusiasm for getting started early celebrating the best holiday of the year. Quickly terming him the “Sullen Sergeant”, Juniper has no idea just how often their paths will cross.

Police Officer Aiden Lockwood loves order and keeping his town of Cloverdale Falls safe. What he doesn’t expect is to see a miniature car cruising down the street with a Christmas tree haphazardly attached to the top. This first encounter with Juniper Swenson, whom he secretly terms the “Crazy Christmas Lady”, is only the first of many. Soon, he finds himself rescuing her from a host of chaotic—and usually Christmas-themed—situations.

When Juniper and Aiden are paired for all types of volunteer Christmas activities, things begin to change between them. Can the Crazy Christmas Lady and the Sullen Sergeant find true love this Christmas season?

She’s an extrovert who loves Christmas.
He’s an officer who loves law and order.
And there’s a Corgi.

My Review:

Another great read by Penny Zeller. I have to say I love Cloverdale Falls and seeing what feels like old friends again.

This book we see Juniper Swenson who now has her own home in Cloverdale Falls and is looking forward to Christmas. She wants to get a tree in early November and fastens it to her car where she is pulled over by Police officer Aiden Lockwood. She secretly refers to him as Sullen Sergeant whereas Aiden secretly refers to her as Crazy Christmas Lady. Add a corgi called Jingles who tends to have her own adventures with Juniper and we have a humourous read.

Right from the start Juniper and Aiden keep having encounters often which lead to the town’s reporter and photographer, Kyra, taking photos of the incidents. Kyra seems to have a radar for drama and makes it a point to catch people in unflattering positions to help sell newspapers.

Again, we see the older members of the community this time with a goal of matchmaking. Poor Juniper and Aiden are in their cross hairs. One part of the story that I love seeing told is adoption from foster care. We learn early that Aiden and his brother were adopted and see this as an important part of the book. This is a town that works with foster carers and helps foster kids as will be shown in several activities. While the book has a lot of funny parts there is also awareness of an important issue.

This book didn’t disappoint and I just wanted to keep reading. I look forward to going back to visit Cloverdale Falls as it’s a place, I would love to live in. This place is a character of its own. If you haven’t read the other books in the series, reading them would enhance the reading experience. However, you can read this book and not be lost as its Juniper and Aiden’s story.

If you enjoy Penny Zellers books you won’t be disappointed and if you like books full of humour this will guarantee laughs.
