Friday Fiction | Stephen and the Heroes by R.A. Stephens

Welcome to Friday Fiction. Today I am reviewing Stephen and the Heroes by R.A. Stephens.

Book Description:

Stephen’s new friend is named after the famous illusionist, Harry Houdini. But what does it mean to be named after the first Christian martyr?

Stephen, along with his rescue kitten, Demi, accidentally discovers a mysterious gate that takes him into a strange new world … or is it a strange old world? About 2000 years old, in fact.

Is it time travel? Maybe.

Is it an adventure? Definitely.

Travel with Stephen as he discovers that even Bible heroes were kids once.

Book Review:

Thanks to the publisher for my review copy.

This is a fun book and the type of book I would have loved growing up. The hero is Stephen and he is in school when he meets a new boy. They talk about their names, and Stephen says he is named after Stephen in the Bible. A few things happen and he finds himself going thought a gate and is back in time and meets Stephen when he was a boy. It was interesting and through the meeting it helps him see that while as an adult Stephen was a Martyr he had been a little boy just like the modern day Stephen.

The book reads well and will appeal to young readers. I also see it’s the first in a series which as a child I would be wanting to read the next books too. They also will be about bible heroes. This is a fun series to introduce children to Bible characters in a fun way.

I would recommend this to young readers it would also be a fun book for parents to read to children.

  1. I’ve also read this book and thoroughly enjoyed it – so much that I donated it to our school library and let them know it was the first in a series.
I hope our librarian looks to purchase more in this series by Rochelle Stephens. It’s Children’s fiction at its best.

    1. I was going to donate to the town library but Aussie post and the books had an accident and they came soaked. It took awhile for me to dry it out to be able to read it. But I am glad I could cos it is a good book and I look forward to more in the series.
