Tuesday Book Chat | Have you Set a Reading Challenge for 2020?

It’s Iola here. Welcome to the first Australasian Christian Writers Tuesday Book Chat for 2020! This is a weekly feature where we encourage book lovers to answer our bookish question of the week.

If you’d like to participate in our weekly Book Chat by posting the question and your answer on your blog, drop us an email via our Contact page and we’ll send you the list of questions for 2020.

Today’s question is:

Have you set a reading challenge for 2020? If so, what is it?

I have 🙂

I’d like to read 150 books this year. Some people will think that’s a huge challenge, but I’ve read that many (or more) each year since 2011, which is when I first started keeping track via the Goodreads Reading Challenge. It’s easy to keep track now I have a Kindle Paperwhite, because that automatically marks off Kindle books as I read them, so I only have to add in review copies and hard copies.

We look forward to hearing your thoughts. Please join in the conversation in a comment on this post or in a comment on the blog post shared in our Australasian Christian Writers Facebook Group. Or, if you’re feeling wordy (like me), write a blog post and link to it in the comments.

Let’s chat!

  1. I’ve set 110 books as my Goodreads target for this year. I did manage 123 books last year.

    1. 110 is a good number to aim for. Well done on 123 books in 2019 🙂

  2. 150 is such a great target. I’m impressed you have been reading that many for years now. I always try to aim for around 100 and manage that most years. This year I have set my Goodreads challenge to 112 books. 2 books a week plus a bonus book each month.

  3. I’ve set my goal if 104 books this year: 2 a week. On target so far. I’d love to read more (and I read 175 last year) but I want to write more! So I’m going to limit my reading to allow more writing time, and knitting, and Bible study, and time to visit my mother, and time to walk with my friends, and grandchildren time and…., and….. I think what I really need is self discipline!!!

  4. I read no fiction books last year, 5 or so new childrens books and about 3 or 4 non fiction books.
Maybe I should aim for 5 fiction books. I can always increase it.

    1. Children’s books are fun. I hope you get to read some novels this year.

  5. My goal is 35 books. This will include audio books and the occasional comic book. I hope to exceed this goal. It doesn’t sound like a very big goal but I’m not fast. There are some nights I’m just too exhausted to read no matter how much I want to.
