Tuesday Book Chat | Do You Prefer Romance Novels With “Just Like You” Characters, or Billionaires or Royalty?

Welcome to Tuesday Book Chat. This is where we encourage book lovers to answer our bookish question of the week.

Today’s question is:

Do you prefer romance novels with “just like you” characters, or billionaires or royalty?

We look forward to hearing your thoughts. Please join in the conversation by commenting on this post or on the blog post shared in our Australasian Christian Writers Facebook Group.

Let’s chat!

I haven’t read many billionaire stories as I find them unrealistic in many ways as there are way less in the world than people realise. Multi millionaire I can understand and many you wouldn’t know were that rich as they don’t flaunt it. I have read a couple of royalty books and enjoyed them but don’t seek them out as such. How ever have enjoyed Toni Shiloh’s In Search of a Prince and here new book To Win A Prince. I don’t want characters just like me but I do like normal people. Not rich, entitled characters, I like relatable.

Your turn.

  1. Hi Jenny, I’ll read either, as long as the story is good and holds my interest. In recent weeks I’ve loved reading Toni Shiloh’s ‘To Win a Prince’ and Elizabeth Maddrey’s ‘Billionaire Next Door’ series. The Billionaire’s Nanny (book 1 in the series) is my favourite billionaire contemporary Christian romance because the billionaire, Scott, is humble and acts like a normal person. I guess Elizabeth’s billionaires are the best of both worlds because they’re humble rather than pretentious.
