Tuesday Book Chat | Have you set a reading challenge for 2021?

Welcome to the Australasian Christian Writers Tuesday Book Chat, where we encourage book lovers to answer our bookish question of the week.

Today’s question is:

Have you set a reading challenge for 2021?

We look forward to hearing your thoughts. Please join in the conversation in a comment on this post or in a comment on the blog post shared in our Australasian Christian Writers Facebook Group.

Let’s chat!

When I first read this question, I thought hmm… I don’t think I’ve ever successfully met a reading challenge target. My biggest reading challenge for 2021 will be making sure I’ve read enough books that meet the right criteria to discuss in the weekly StoryChats @InspyRomance podcast/YouTube episodes. 52 books is my target – 1 book per week. I will be re-reading old favourites and writing more book recommendations. I’m going to track my 2021 reading via my Writing Planner. Plus, I want to reduce my Kindle TBR list – which means reading more ebooks than I buy – easier said than done!

What do you think? Have you set a reading challenge for 2021?

  1. I haven’t set a challenge as the past few years I haven’t read as much. I use to read over 100 books and would pass my target. I also did a read a book set in every American state and you could add other countries. I did this a couple of times (and there are states its really hard finding books set in). So will not be setting a target this year.

    1. Hi Jenny, The US state settings challenge sounds fun. I like reading international settings, especially now when we can’t travel overseas. Thanks for commenting. 😊

  2. Just the Goodreads Challenge again this year. My goal this year is 120 books. Last year I had set 110, but ended up reading 136.
This total includes fiction & non-fiction.

    1. Hi Beth, Yay for meeting your 2020 Goodreads target! Happy reading in 2021. I’ve read 2 books this year and this will likely be the only week of the year when I’m ahead of my target, lol. Thanks for commenting. 😊

  3. I’ve done the Popsugar challenge a couple of times, and managed to finish it once (thought it took 14 months instead of 12). This year some of the categories didn’t grab me, so I’ve made up my own of list of 20. I’ll read other books as well, but I wanted to challenge myself to read across 20 different categories. I’ll say more about that in Thursday’s blog post.
