Welcome to Tuesday Book Chat. This is where we encourage book lovers to answer our bookish question of the week.
Today’s question is:
It’s Australia Day! Let’s create a list of Australian books and authors.
We look forward to hearing your thoughts. Please join in the conversation by commenting on this post or on the blog post shared in our Australasian Christian Writers Facebook Group.
Let’s chat!
I will get the ball rolling with a couple of authors from this blog who write Australian books. Meredith Resce, Narelle Atkins, Nola Lorraine, Elaine Fraser, and Rose Dee all write books set in Australia. We also have Aussie authors who write books set in other locations like Carolyn Miller, Jessica Kate, David Rawlings and Ian Acheson (and I possibly missed someone).
Your turn.

Jenny Glazebrook, Lisa Renee, Penny Reece, Christine Dillon, Andrea Grigg, and Cecily Paterson all write Australian based books
Some good names. Hopefully a few readers will add favourite books also.
One of mine was by Meredith Resce “Cora Villa”
Thanks Jenny 🤓
W.R.Gingell is a Tasmanian writer. Her Between series is set in Hobart. Ruth Amos is also from Tassie and Adam David Collins lives in the north of the state. And four of my own books pen name: Chrissy Garwood) are set on the Big Island, even though I’ve been Taswegian all my life.
Thanks for adding more authors and some from Tassie.
My latest novel ‘Down by the Water’ is set in Australia and some of my earlier novels are too–and of course my non-fiction about my own journey. And a few other Christian Aussie authors I can think of who haven’t been mentioned so far are Naomi Reed, Steph Penny, Amanda Deed, Jeanie Wood, Susan Brown, Patricia Weerakoon, Carol Preston, Paula Vince, Valerie Volk, plus many Aussies who write great theological/biblical books such as Mike Frost, Graham Hill, John Dixon etc. The list goes on!
Thanks for adding to the list. There are a lot of Aussie writers and will be good to get a list of some of readers favourite books too.
Kate Gordon’s Girl Running Boy Falling is set in Tasmania. It is a fabulous Young Adult novel that deals with some tough issues, like suicide, depression and grief.
Thanks for adding a book.
I loved D J Blackmore’s book ‘Central to Nowhere’.

Another good add.
Bug A Boo the kangaroo by Susan P Branch…a bit of self promotion there 😉 . Also Antonio’s Seed by Merry Watson
Self promotion is fine here thanks for commenting
Here are some I have read written by people I know. Because I know the authors, I treasure them: “Signed, Sealed and Delivered” by Rita Stella Galieh, @Aspire to Lofty Heights” by Ross McCallum Jones, “When the Lights Go Out” by Ruth Myors, “Ride Like a Girl” by Michelle Payne ( a Ballarat girl), “Hope: Moments of Inspiration” by Tim Costello and “Will They Stand?: Parenting Kids Against the Giants” by Ken Ham, an Australian who grew up with us but who now lives in the USA. I also have a few books written by close friends but which did not get out into the public arena.
Thanks for adding more to the list Heather.
I just added some by people I know quite well personally. I have these on my Kindle. Of course there is Nola Lorraine’s “Scattered” which I read as soon as it came out. I enjoyed Jo-Anne Berthelson’s book launch on Saturday I think it was and I am going to get that on Kindle. I have three on the go at the moment, so will finish those first.
Caroline Miller, Paula Vince, Amanda Deed, Rose Dee, Andrea Grigg, Patricia Weerakoon, Nick Hawks, Adele Jones, Nola Passmore, Narelle Atkins, Christine Dillon, Jessica Kate, DJ Blackmore, David Rawlings, Dorothy Adamek, EB James, Rita Galiea, Joanne Berthelsen
Thanks for the list Meredith.
