To become good writers, we need absolute transparency if we are to reach people with our words. Otherwise, we have no business poking our noses into other people’s affairs. Because of you, people can either be drawn to Jesus or away from Him. It’s a big responsibly, one I hope we don’t take lightly. The reason you exist, dear writer, is because something needs to be done. Something needs to be completed, and only you can do it.
At my church, I run the Alpha course for new Christians, along with my husband. We only started a couple of months ago and already we are hearing awesome testimonies from the people who are attending. One lady told me that she was too fearful to share her faith before Alpha, however, after doing the course she has led two strangers to Christ. How amazing is that! But what got me all teary-eyed was what she said next. She said, “It’s because of you, Wendy.” I reminded her that I have no part in the saving, it’s all God and nothing of me. But she explained that because I said, “yes” to running an Alpha course, it gave her the confidence to lead strangers to salvation.
Could it be that simple?
I pondered on what she’d said for a while, and it made me think about my writing and all the writers I have come to know through the Omega Writer’s Conference over the years. We just need to say, “yes” to God and see where it takes us. God has designated, called and chosen each one of us to be His hands and feet. Because of you dear writer, people will encounter the love of Christ in a real and powerful way. Absolute transparency is what people need, not some “fake-it-till-you-make-it-type-religion.” This world is desperately crying out for you to step in and step out into your calling as a writer, and show (not tell) exactly what they’re looking for.
You are here in this particular place and time to bring people closer to Jesus. Because of your absolute transparency, your words will flow freely onto the paper and change people’s lives. We are the ones who guide and direct strangers along the path with our carefully constructed words. We are the ones whom Jesus has commissioned to make a difference. Because of you dear writer and the burden that you carry within your heart, there will be volumes of books that no library can fill telling people of the love of Christ.
As 2019 draws to a close make up your mind to stir up the writing gift that is within you. And with absolute transparency write, write, write because when we all eventually get to heaven, we will meet all the people who read our books, blogs, and poems, and they will all start their stories with the same three words…
“…Because of you.”
