The first in the Lord Danvers Investigates series, A Most Inconvenient Death is a Victorian true-crime novel. The Stanfield Hall Murders were the sensation they are portrayed to be and the elaborate coming of age celebrations and the ensuing dramatic trial are all recorded history.
I truly enjoyed this murder mystery, I hope it is the beginning of a series!!! The characters were quirky, evil, beautiful, ugly but I think my absolutely a favorite was Pip, who is the young son of one of Danvers’ servants, and this little guy saved the day, saved a life, and gave me quiet giggles under the blankey last night, because I had to finish it and it was 2AM!

The delightful thing about historical mysteries is that they’re never really dated. “A Most Inconvenient Death” is a Victorian era whodunit involving rich and poor, titled and common, money and debt, constant guessing as to whom the killer (or killers) might be, and one wild climactic ending.

A touch of mystery and detection comes with a story set in the English countryside during the reign of Victoria. There is good attention to details of dress and customs. It’s also a prelude to the romance of Lord Danvers and Lady Antonia to be explored in sequels.
