About the Book

If you are a fan of Donna Fletcher Crow, as I am, you’ll enjoy this book. Good mystery with a lot of plot twists and red herrings, and one that introduces you to a world of literature you may not otherwise be.

Within this historical novel there are many different stories, plot lines and characters that will keep you interested for numerous reasons. Jane Austen’s writing is original, unique and her research impeccable as author Donna Fletcher Crow brings her writing, novels and personal life back to life in this British mystery filled with many different voices from the past and the present.

This is a thoroughly enjoyable story, both in its own right as a mystery and a commentary on both Golden Age detective stories and on Jane Austen. The author really knows London and part of the real pleasure of the book is to be taken round London, seeing it both as it is today and, with the use of Jane Austen’s letters, as it was in Austen’s time. The characters are great and the denouement is excellent. Highly recommended for anyone who loves a good mystery and loves (who doesn’t?) Jane Austen.
