DEVOTIONS: God knows

even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. – Psalms 139:10 NIV

Even there.

What a beautiful thought to ponder.

Even there, God’s hand will guide and hold us. Even there could be anywhere; the mountain top, or the bottom of the valley. In our joy or suffering, even there, God can be found. How comforting to know that there is no place that God can’t reach and guide us. Even there, that place that you may think is out of reach, is not too far for God’s kindness, love and leading.

We’re not alone.

We can often think that our circumstances are so bad, they’re beyond God’s reach. We think our problems are too big, or impossible. Or we think our heart is too far gone from God, our sin is too great, or we are just too broken and damaged for God to do anything.

But even there.

Even in the hardest and darkest circumstances, God’s hand can still reach you and guide you. Even in the broken places, God’s hand can still restore and heal the wounds. Even when you find yourself in the rubble, looking at the shattered pieces of your life, God’s hand can still comfort and redeem what has been lost or stolen.

Don’t listen to the lies.

The enemy may try and tell you otherwise. He will try to convince you that God can’t or won’t help you. He is known as the father of lies for a reason (John 8:44). He will aim to make us believe we have no hope and in turn, try to isolate us. But don’t believe the lie because that’s not who God is.

God loves us too much to leave us where we are. He loves us so much He sent his only Son for us (John 3:16). He wouldn’t leave us without helping us. His love goes beyond anything we can imagine. Beyond any circumstance or heartache.

Knowing God’s comfort.

To know God is to know comfort and peace. It is to know that He is love and kindness and grace. Knowing God is knowing that He is who he says he is, and He will do what he says he will. To know God is to have a heart that can stand firm in the storm and take comfort in God’s arms. And to know God is to adore Him and worship him for who He is; redeemer, comforter, love and salvation. As we go about our day, may we lift our hearts in worship to God, knowing that no matter where we are, He is there.

Father, thank you that no matter where we are, your hand can still reach us, guide us and comfort us. Thank you for being so gracious and leading us with your love. We invite you into every place in our lives and in our hearts. In Jesus’ name, amen.

  2. I am so thankful, grateful and amazed at this, God’s overwhelming love that continues to flow throughout our whole lives! And to think He willingly gave Jesus, His precious son to die for us when we couldn’t have cared less!
