Fiction Friday |Capsules & Crushes by Amanda Tero Matthews

For Fiction Friday I am reviewing Capsules & Crushes by Amanda Tero Matthews

Book Description:

When a time capsule reveals a secret crush, it might be the start to something new … if they can overcome the challenges of today.

Devon Graves has one goal this weekend: forget that his ex-fiancée is marrying someone else. He escapes with his metal detector to Everwild Island only to uncover a time capsule that should have stayed hidden.

Makayla Bowman has secretly loved Devon since high school. When he invites her to spend the day with him treasure hunting, it’s a dream come true. Until she sees the teenage note she wrote about him in his possession. Falling for her old crush is one thing. Falling for him when his heart belongs to someone else is another.

The past brought them together, but they both have a choice to make about where they go from here.

Escape to Everwild Island in this clean, faith-filled beach read with an old crush, a broken heart, and unexpected romance.

Book Review:

I was looking for a novella to read and did enjoy Coasts & Coworkers so wanted to read this book and I loved it.

We are back on Everwild Island where both Devon Graves and Makayla Bowman grew up. Makayla was best friends with Devons younger sister Ava but him being a few years older didn’t pay her much attention. Makayla on the other hand had a huge crush on Devon.

Devon is on the island for a break with his dog Lucky and trying to forget his ex-fiancée who is getting married to someone else. He has a youtube channel with his metal detecting hunting and Lucky has become a hit with his audience. Makayla is staying with her aunt while waiting on applications to schools.

They meet with Devon not recognising her, she still has her crush, and we see what will happen. Lucky tends to be a scene stealer and is a fun character. I did like how the book flows and how the story unfolds and felt invested in the story. The Island itself is very much a character and the type of place I would love to go visit. I am looking forward to more books set on Everwild Island. If you like beach reads set on an island then this may be the book for you.
