Psalm Boy by Jake Wrenlow

(Released: November 1, 2026)

Nate decides to give kindness a go. It turns out to be harder than he expected.

When Dad gives him a battered book of Psalms, Nate starts looking for ways to put its words into practice. But between handball disputes, awkward apologies and his best mate Leo’s terrible superhero jokes, doing the right thing takes more effort than he bargained for.

Then the book disappears.

Nate and Leo have a suspect and a theory. What they don’t have is much evidence. As their detective work starts hurting the people around them, Nate faces a problem that finding the book won’t fix: how do you put things right when you’re the one who got them wrong?

Set in an Australian primary school, Psalm Boy is a short, humorous Christian chapter book for readers aged 8–11. With friendship, family and Catholic faith woven into Nate’s everyday life, it explores what kindness looks like when you’re annoyed, embarrassed and absolutely certain you’re right.
