Welcome to Tuesday Book Chat.
This is where we encourage book lovers to answer our bookish question of the week. As we are a faith-based group the questions refer mainly to Christian fiction or non-fiction.
Today’s question is:
Do you snack while reading – or is food near books a no-go?
We look forward to hearing your thoughts. Please join in the conversation by commenting on this post or on the blog post shared in our Australasian Christian Writers Facebook Group. Remember to comment today on Tuesday Book Chat to enter the giveaway.
Let’s chat!
I do at times no set snacks as I normally read on the computer often have a drink, water near me. Often have chocolate, biscuits etc nearby too. It really depends on my mood.
Your turn.
I look forward to reading your comments here or at the FB group.

Hi Jenny, I’m careful when I’m reading paperbacks and I don’t snack while reading. But, when I’m reading an ebook on my Kindle or phone or iPad… it’s a different story, lol. I can easily clean the screen. 😊
with me it really depends I probably don’t eat while reading a paper back but not sure anymore. with the computer my water is always by it anyway.
I don’t usually snack when I read, not because I think I will make a mess, but bI am just too into the story to eat or drink.
I can understand that I think I drink more when reading although I read on the computer so its easier.
Hi Jenny
I don’t usually eat anything messy or crumbly when reading a book, especially if it’s a book I have to hold while reading. Magazines and my Kindle are a different story because I can lay them flat. But even then, if it’s a ‘keeper’ magazine, I try to be careful with it.
Cheers
Nola
I can understand that. cos I read on the computer its a little easier
As a school librarian you would think that I would say food and drinks should not be combined with books, but personally, I am usually seen eating and drinking with a book beside me – including in the library kitchenette!
Oh I love that.
I’m usually too involved in the book to eat, unless I need to eat a main meal and don’t want to put the book down. The book always comes first. Food is optional and often forgone 😂
That makes sense too. I probably do snack cos I tend to read on the laptop
I rarely snack while reading but I often read a book when eating meals unless I’m eating with others. Since I read so much I would gain a ton of I snacked while reading, lol.
I snack if I was going to snack anyway. I am more likely to drink as I don’t drink enough so keep my water by where I sit
