Tuesday Book Chat | Do You Like Reading Novels With Royalty Themes?

Welcome to Tuesday Book Chat. This is where we encourage book lovers to answer our bookish question of the week.

Today’s question is:

Do you like reading novels with royalty themes?

We look forward to hearing your thoughts. Please join in the conversation by commenting on this post or on the blog post shared in our Australasian Christian Writers Facebook Group.

Let’s chat!

I have only read one or two books with a royalty them. One set in America with the hero heir to the throne and on holiday. He meets the heroine and has to choose between love and duty. It wasn’t a bad book. I haven’t really read that many to be able to say if I enjoy them or not.

Your turn.

I look forward to reading your comments here or at the FB group.

  1. I’ve read some I’ve enjoyed, but I don’t seek them out. That might be because I live in the US and not in the Commonwealth. I love Regency and other UK-based historical novels (WWI and earlier), but they don’t usually have royalty as major characters.

    1. Thats true about historical books set in England some feature the Ton. I know some authors have their own country for the books. We had an Australian who met the crown prince of Denmark and is now his wife and has 4 children and it is a real love story. But this sort of thing doesn’t happen as often. (Same happened to the King of Monaco who married a swimmer from South Africa).
So I guess it really does happen. Most of the books I have read its a Royal from somewhere in Europe falling for an American but they are in hiding or they hide they are royalty. That I don’t think happens as much in real life.

  2. I’ve read a few, but there is always the tension of either parents or government not approving of the royal’s choice of spouse or the royal hiding their identity.
Knowing how few royals their are in the world, I’d rather read about a relationship that is more attainable, rather than the almost impossible.

  3. I can understand that even in movies its the same sort of situation. I guess in Europe there are a lot of royals in name only where it would be more realistic. Very few story’s are like the one with Our Mary.
